Album release: Graft

FAJE Grantees 2016

FAJE (French-American Jazz Exchange), a program of FACE Foundation and Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, in collaboration with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States.

GRAFT – the new release of French-American ensemble THIEFS (American bassist Keith Witty and French saxophonist Christophe Panzani) – presents new collaborations including Mike Lad and Gaël Faye, among others, for an album inspired by the theme of migration and identity. All the artists involved in the project have worked together around the questions of the human experience of migration, the homeland, and the status of being a stranger, with the metaphor of the graft, through the genre-blending of hip-hop jazz.

The album GRAFT is not yet released: it is on a crowdfunding platform until the end of the year.
