2018 DCJazzPrix Call for Application

On Dec 5, 2017, The DC Jazz Festival (DCJF) has announced the launch and expansion of its now-international jazz band competition, DCJazzPrix, issuing a Call for Applications open until March 4, 2018.

For its third year, the prize opens to international musicians, celebrating the 2018 DCJF's International Language of Jazz theme.

"The DCJazzPrix is unique in that it aims to identify and showcase emerging and exceptional jazz band talent from across the globe," said Sunny Sumter, DCJF Executive Director, adding "The contest is designed to help launch and promote the careers of emerging jazz artists around the world who are committed to sustained and creative band development and performance opportunities."

Adding a bold new element to the DCJF programs, the prize offers an important exposure opportunity to perform at an international festival in Washington, DC. The winner will also be awarded a $15,000 cash prize and a year-long association with the DC Jazz Festival organization to include: extensive public exposure; business support and career navigation services; and a main stage 2019 DC JazzFest paid engagement.
