On Sunday, May 7th, Gigi Mitchell-Velasco will be playing the second of two organ recitals in complete fulfillment of the degree of Master of Music in Organ Performance, 2017, Boston University College of Fine Arts. Featured are works by French organ composers César Franck (Choral in A minor), Gabriel Pierné (Trois Pièces), Louis Vierne (Scherzetto, Arabesque and Cortège), and Henri Mulet (Tu es Petra), as well as organ transcriptions of two works by Claude Debussy (Arabesque No. 2 for piano and the orchestral L'Après-midi d'un Faune).

This recital is the second and final of two in fulfillment of Gigi Mitchell-Velasco’s Master of Music in Organ Performance at Boston University College of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Prof. Peter Sykes. Gigi is the Music Director, Organist and Choirmaster at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Natick, Massachusetts. As a voice student of Mignon Dunn and then a longtime protégée of Christa Ludwig, she enjoyed an award-winning 25-year career as an international concert and opera singer, performing with the various symphony orchestras, opera companies and choral societies of Boston, New York, San Francisco, Washington, Prague, Braunschweig, San Diego, Phoenix, Charleston, Florida and Colorado, under Helmut Rilling, Jaap van Zweeden, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Sarah Caldwell, Hans Graf, Andreas Delfs, Benjamin Zander, Jahja Ling, Julian Wachner. Her love of singing and church work has culminated in a new career as organist and choirmaster.
