Supported by FACE, Monday Evening Concerts concludes their animated season with a special return of the Talea Ensemble in the 2007 West Coast premier of Happy End by Georges Aperghis for chamber orchestra, electronics, animated video, and prerecorded voices. Undoubtedly one of the greatest voices in world music of today, known throughout much of Europe and emerging quickly into the Californian music scene, Aperghis’ work is not only lively and quirky, but theatrical and profoundly entertaining as well. His original and vivid musical style and tone resonate in the memories and hearts of audience members world-wide, rendering this special season finale a must-see!

An interpretative recreation of the classic seventeenth-century fairy tale by Charles Perrault, Little Thumb, Aperghi’s musical Happy End welcomes spectators of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures into the fantastical universe of an incredible artist. Musicians of the Talea Ensemble include James Baker (conductor), Sébastian Roux (live electronics) and Hans Op de Beeck (animated video).
