Art in Public Spaces: First MOOC Dedicated to Artistic Creation in Public Spaces

"What is public space ? Why do artists choose to work in these unconventional places ? How do they use these spaces around the world ? What kind of legislation and technicals characteristics do professionals have to take into account ?"

Launched by FAI-AR (Marseille) in partnership with In Situ, the European platform for artistic creation in public space and ARTCENA, French national center for circus arts, street arts and theater, the MOOC “Create In Public Space”  - a 4-week online course -  has been conceived for artists, art students, cultural actors, community leaders, and international urban transformation professionals to reflect on creation in public space.

Online courses, free and fully bilingual (French-English) have started on September 9, 2019 for a period of five weeks. They include thirteen thematic lessons around the history, aesthetics, dramaturgical and scenographic specificities of contemporary creation in public space, testimonials from international professionals, tools and methods to implement a project of art in public space.

You can join the MOOC "Create in Public Space" by registering here.

Initiated in 2002, FAI-AR is a training center dedicated to artistic creation in public space. It offers 22 months of advanced training for students from higher artistic training institutions and experienced performers (comedians, dancers, musicians, circus artists) who wish to carry out projects in public spaces. The FAI-AR is located in La Cité des Arts in Marseille. Jean-Sébastien Steil has been the director since September 2013.
