This upcoming concert is an American premiere of these two French Baroque womens' compositions.  They were active and centrally located within the courts of Louis XIV and Louis XV - ie, both in the French Baroque and Rococco stylistic periods.

The mid-concert lecture will tie in French Baroque Music with the prevailing artistic milieu, theatrical notions (Moliere), philosophical notions (Descartes), amongst a plethora of other ideas circulating at this interesting period in French history.

Marischka Olech Hopcroft, Ph.D., M.F.A., M.Psych., is the artistic director of  "Femmes de la Guerre ": French Baroque Musique with a Twist.  She is a native New Zealander; now long-time Los Angelino.  She is also a musicologist, harpsichordist, antique pianist, organist, psychologist, and feminist analyst.  She works closely with French and American experts in comparative literature, literary theory, art history, cultural analysis, postmodern critique, Stalinesque Slavic cleansing, Naziism and music, gender and music, Marxist analysis, and filmology.
