The artist Fabien Mérelle will be presenting his new works at the galery Praz-Delavallade in Los Angeles, from May 18 to June 24. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover this extraordinary exhibition and to be present at its opening, which will take place between 6 and 8 PM on May 18.

Graduated from the Beaux-Arts academy in Paris, Fabien Mérelle has since made his place on the international artistic scene – after attending the Beaux-Arts academy of Xi’An, China, he obtained in 2010 a Residence at the prestigious Casa Velazquez in Madrid, where he won the Canson Prize. This international experience has become a constant source of inspiration and a central element of his creative process, and his works borrow from various artistic traditions, from alternative Eastern drawing techniques such as Chinese ink, to great European masters such as Albrecht Dürer.

Fabien Mérelle’s drawings are indeed marked by a duality which both animates and echoes the artist’s creative reflection. Besides the tension between various and often surprisingly complementary artistic traditions, his drawings are indeed both realistic in their rendering and dream-like and outwordly in their setting. Through this tension between an anatomical precision which seems inherited from the Dutch and German Renaissance and a very modern touch of dark humor and irony, the artist intends to explore and expose the complex workings of the subconscious, channeling psychological theories of great 20th century thinkers.

After exposing in New York’s Armory Show, Fabien Mérelle is now back in the US for a few months. Make sure to discover the creations of this talented young artist, now exposing in LA !
