FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA

This year, the international festival in San Antonio, celebrating various photographic genres from traditional photography to photography-based art forms, showcases the works of two French photographers Alban Lécuyer and Thibault de Puyfontaine.

Born in Paris in 1977 and graduated from Superior School of Journalism of Lille. Alban Lécuyer contributes to various magazines (Arts Magazine,Tête-à-tête, Fragil.org, etc.) and collaborates with public organizations or private companies (advertising campaigns, photographic missions). He also teaches the history of photography and the interpretation of pictures at the DMA of Nantes. His personal project focuses on the representations of the collective housing (political, media, commercial, social representations) and on the place of all and sundry facing the alteration of urban spaces. For more information please visit Alban Lécuyer's official website.

Thibault De Puyfontaine "Late Colors: Egypte" Curated by Michael Mehl

Born in Clichy, France in 1980, was initiated to photography in 1998 allowing him to experience recording and photo printing in black and white. In 2001, studying at the Ateliers de Sèvres, he gets acquainted with painting, drawing and scupture. In the following years, he discovers the techniques of studio photography. Using his skills in various fields from advertising, reporting to pack-shot, he then moves to New York to work on his series "Walking in Manhattan." In 2007, on a trip to Egype, he progressively stops his commercial works to dedicate himself to his personal work. In 2010, he moves to Mozambique for a residency and develops his promissing work "Late Colors: Egypte". For more information, please visit Thibault de Puyfontaine's portfolio.

FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA "reflects a deep interest in photography both as an art form and as a means of personal and cultural expression. It also points to San Antonio’s expansive, enthusiastic embrace of FOTOSEPTIEMBRE USA SAFOTO." It showcases established and mid-career artists alongside photographic artists.
