The Cultural Service of the Embassy of France, in partnership with The Phillips Collection and under the label France Musique, presents its first edition of FUSION, a program that seeks to build a bridge between French and American musical talents.

Through FUSION, an American musician will give a concert at the Embassy of France, followed by the performance of a French musician at The Phillips Collection.

On January 24th, the Cultural Service will welcome American violinist, Miranda Cuckson, on stage. And on January 26th, The Phillips Collection will present the Quatuor Eclisses in concert, formed by a group of four French guitarists.

The program of Miranda Cuckson, with pianist Yegor Shevtsov, will include:

Samuel Barber: Allegro agitato for violin and piano  (1928)
Pierre Boulez:  "Anthèmes 1" for solo violin  (1992)
Claude Debussy: Sonate for violin and piano (1917)

*****
Steven Mackey:  Sonata for violin and piano  (1996)
Aaron Copland  Sonata for violin and piano (1943)

FUSION serves as a new device of support to young, emerging musical talent; establising its commitment to perpetuate a musical dialogue between France and the United States, their musicians and composers.

This project was granted the label France Musique in order to accompany those French musicians who will perform in the United States.
