Odyssey Theatre Ensemble presents "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris," a musical experience featuring the songs of Jacques Brel, a Belgian singer/songwriter known for his theatrical chansons. The show runs from July 1, 2017 to August 27, 2017 and features English translations of some of Brel's most popular songs.

Largely known for his emotionally-charged songs, such as "Ne me quitte pas" and "Le Moribond," Jacques Brel gained a large following in Belgium and France in the late 1950's and boasts the title of the third best-selling Belgian recording artist of all time.

The muscial revue, "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris," made its off-broadway debut in 1968 and was performed nearly 2,000 times, making it one of the longest running off-broadway shows. The musical experience increased Brel's profile in English-speaking countries with lyrical translations that are close in spirit to the originals, influencing musicians such as David Bowie and Leonard Cohen. Nearly 50 years later, this intense revue continues to bring Brel's passionate and profound songs to life for Engish-speakers to enjoy.
