Pablo Picasso and Diego Rivera were two contemporary founders of modernism in painting across the globe, in Europe and in Latin America. Based on this common background, the exhibition curated by LACMA aims at comparing their two artistic trajectories through the particular prism of their relation to antique sources: Mediterranean for the first, Pre-Columbian for the latter.

Organized in collaboration with the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, the exhibition features 150 works by Picasso and Rivera and casts a new light on their respective as well as mutual influences.
