Drawing on the Norton Simon Museum’s holdings of over 700 Picasso prints— among the deepest collections of its kind anywhere in the world— the exhibition 'States of Mind' will be held at the Norton Simon Museum from October 14 to February 13. It focuses on a less well-known aspect of Picasso's work: his practice as a printmaker.

"The moment... when the movement of my thought interests me more than the thought itself” : this quote from Picasso illustrates the substance of his work on prints and litographs. He cherished printing as a medium keeping traces of its own making process, contrary to oil paintings. As such, it enabled him to rework on his lithographs and reprint them as many times as he wanted to express the metamorphoses of an original idea.
