After the exhibition « Zeugma 2 » in Paris, the Galerie Carole Decombe is presenting « When Ceramic Meets Design ». This exhibit marks the second part of a diptych devoted to the collaborative work of ceramist Isabelle Sicart, designer Emmanuel Levet Stenne and decorators Nicolas and Sébastien Reese, featuring original works of the artist duo.

Both trained in the classical tradition of ceramics and design, the two creators share a common interest in a work touching and questioning the boundaries of genres, arts and styles. Isabelle Sicart, who worked for the Lalique Creation studio and has been producing her own ceramique objects for a few years, defines her realisations as a mixture of classicism and surrealism. In the same perspective, Emmanuel Levet Stenne, who has joined the workshop of designer Eric Schmitt since 2001, focuses on finding a balance between formal rigor and softness.

The pieces of furniture exposed in the gallery combine the savoir-faire and inspiration and embody a common love for both the formal order of classicism and the daring originality of contemporary creation. Situated at the frontier between ceramics and design, sensuality and order, softness and rigor, the objects presented to the spectators unite the formal search of Emmanuel Levet Stenne’s design, and the poetic use of materials characteristic of Isabelle Sicart’s work.
