From the Bronx to the Seine

June 22, 2015 | By Robin Guivarc'h

Thanks to the Contemporary Theater Fund, the project From the Bronx to the Seine, prompted by Théâtre du Bout du Monde, offers adolescents living in the suburbs of both Paris and New York the opportunity to experience a theatrical journey.

In 2014, these students began a weekly French-American theater workshop to learn about repertoire pieces. At the end of each year of the program, the students will present a final piece in both French and English, first in Nanterre, France (near Paris) in July 2015, then in the US (the Bronx) in July 2016.

Within this framework, the group is currently working on Louis Calaferte's Three Beggars & a Rich Man, under the direction of Miguel Borras and Rachel Castillo. The American teenagers are about to travel across the pond and meet with their French counterparts to present the show in Nanterre on July 3, 7 and 8. In 2016, the French students will travel to New York.
