International Residencies in Paris 2016

September 25, 2015 | By Nicole Birmann

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS!

For the first time ever, the French Institute and the French Culture and Communications Minister are combining their efforts to organize the residency program for foreign artists at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The program is open to foreign creators from various disciplines selected by the French Institute, the Alliance Française, as well as French cultural institutions and international cultural representatives. This year the program could host as many as 70 residents.

The immersion in a hosting structure at the center of Paris will allow artists to develop their creativity and their artistic research in a new setting.

Disciplines:

Video art, circus, puppetry, street performance, digital art, visual art, comics, cinema, curating exhibition, dance, design, graphism, gastronomy, editing, fine crafts, fashion, contemporary music, jazz, classic and theater.

Candidate profile:

Candidates must have an established professional career, and speak French or English. They must have a portfolio or collection of previous works, be independent in managing their work throughout the residency, and be free of any professional engagements during the residency.

Length of stay:

Artists must reside for at least three months, and at most six months.

Timeline:

The deadline for the application is October 29, 2015.

The selection committee will gather in mid-November 2015.

Selection criteria:

The following criteria will be evaluated in the selection process:

- The candidate's professional career and trajectory

- The quality of their proposed project and the necessity of working in Paris to realize it

- The robustness of the project planning process

- The potential for partnerships to be established between the artist and organizations in France

- The ability to speak French or English

Selection process:

Applications may only be submitted through a cultural organization or institution, such as the French Institute, the Alliance Française of the candidate's country of residence, or the Cultural Counselor. The application will be submitted on IF.prog
