Snow White: Ballet Preljocaj US Tour

March 14, 2012 | By French Culture

World-renowned French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj will present his new show Snow White in the US on a nation-wide tour in March and April.

If the ballet inspired by the fairytale adheres to the original and enchanted version of the Grimm brothers’ book, Snow White is definitely contemporary, offering an interesting interpretation of the characters, as seen through a modern lens. Preljocaj has indeed admited to “a few personal variations based on his own analysis of the symbols in the tale”, including for example, a focus on the narcissistic determination of the step-mother.

With 26 dancers, costumes and set designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier & Thierry Leproust, and beautiful scores of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies, this contemporary version of the fairytale will enchant both adults and children.
