CELEBRATING SWANN'S WAY:

Instructor Alina Opreanu

In honor of the centennial of Du Côté de chez Swann, published in 1913, Théâtre du Rêve brings you an intensive eight-week immersion into the first volume of Marcel Proust’s À la recherche du temps perdu. Together we will explore passages – including but not limited to the famous scene of the madeleine – that illustrate the intersection of memory, literature, and the arts. Drawing on excerpts of Proust’s letters, photographs from his collection, and paintings of turn-of-the-century Paris, we will immerse ourselves in Proust’s world. Our literary exploration will culminate in a dramatic reading of selected passages from Du Côté de chez Swann.

Location: Goat Farm Arts Center, BLDG 8, LMR-9

Tuition: $250 (16 hours of instruction)

Ages 16 and up. Classes Sep. 12-Oct. 31
