The French Cultural and University Mission in the United States is offering a full-time, 1 year fixed-term renewable contract for the following position: 

Cultural Services Administrative Agent 
(Los Angeles branch)
Position beginning January 1, 2021

Job Description

Ensure the administrative functioning of the Los Angeles branch of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy


1. Reception/Administrative Duties

  • Receiving calls & emails and welcoming visitors
  • Managing, sorting, and archiving of calendar and "contacts" databases
  • Assisting with writing and translation of documents in French and English

2. Administrative and Budgetary Management

  • Development of agreements with partners
  • Oversight of files in connection with partners and the entire network: agreements, invoices, administrative files, and other supporting documents
  • Follow-up of grant applications (Institut Français, SACD, etc.)
  • Follow-up with the management team in New York and Washington
  • Monitoring of expenses and revenues in connection with the 3 local attachés and the federal attachés

Required Skills

Training and / or Experience

  • Proven experience in a similar position
  • Fluency in English and French

Desirable Abilities

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Qualities of rigor and precision
  • Synthesis and organization abilities

Required Languages

  • French: read, spoken, written - advanced professional level
  • English: read, spoken, written - advanced professional level

Computer/Software Skills

  • Essential standard knowledge of computer tools: Word, Excel, Internet (Google drive) and social networks


  • Dynamism and good sense of human relations
  • Independence, sense of responsibility, spirit of initiative

Position Details  

  • Full time contract. Weekly work duration: 40 hours
  • The agent may be asked to work in the evenings and on weekends depending on the requirements of the service.
  • Gross monthly salary - Level 3 of the Salary Framework: $ 4,334

The agent will work under the hierarchical responsibility of the Audiovisual Attaché, head of the department, in functional connection with the Cultural Attaché and the Educational and University Cooperation Attaché in Los Angeles, as well as with the various departments of the Cultural Services in New York and Washington, D.C.
