The Higher Education Department of the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France based in New York seeks an intern to assist our team with the promotion of our programs. The Department offers a variety of programs supporting the mobility of American students to France as well as initiatives related to French culture on American campuses and scientific collaboration. Eligibility

This position is open to a student enrolled full-time in an American university. Please note that we cannot accept candidates who have already graduated, high school students, or students who require a visa to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Support the higher education officers on the following programs: Thomas Jefferson Fund (mainly) and Community College in France
  • Write articles and update information on the French Culture website
  • Support the management of a LinkedIn page for the Thomas Jefferson Fund
  • Research potential fundraising opportunities and stakeholders for international research
  • Update contact lists and databases, and support program and project follow-up
  • Help with the design of surveys and communication materials
  • Participate in the planning and execution of events organized by or in partnership with the Department

Qualifications

  • Major in French, International Education, Communications, or any related field of study
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent English writing skills – must be native-level
  • French language proficiency B1 minimum on the CEFR scale
  • Technical skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Interest in higher education and French culture

Availability

12 hours per week minimum, 2 to 6 months (depending on your availability)
Starting date: between September 1st, 2021 and January 2022 (depending on your availability)
Internship will be conducted remotely or in a hybrid model (based at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy at 972 5th Avenue)
