The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States have created a unique partnership with Face foundation allowing those two institutions to promote cultural exchange between France and the U.S. through grant programs and special projects in all the disciplines of the arts and education. New and recent work of living artists remains the priority. Bilingualism and the promotion of the French language are the focus of programs in secondary education. An innovative program in higher education and research allows French and American universities to build institutional relationships and to create new curricula together.  

The Arts Department advises and promotes exchanges of artists and professionals between France and the U.S. in the fields of Performing and Visual Arts. It develops and initiates cooperative projects in connection with U.S. partners. 


The Visual & Performing Arts Office seeks an American intern. Priority will be given to candidates with experience in communication, copy-editing, development, and with the ability to read French fluently. 
Candidates must possess excellent writing and communication skills, particularly the ability to write short, compelling prose that communicates clearly and arouses interest. Candidates should have a solid knowledge of the French language.  
The intern will work with the team of the Arts department in the fields of Visual Arts (Design, Contemporary Art, Architecture), Performing Arts (Theater, Dance, Circus), music, and young audience program.  
He/she will be regularly in touch with the Communication department. He/she will be able to help the Visual & Performing Arts Office with various tasks such as organizing events, helping with the logistics of important professional meetings in connection with the Program Officers. Though fluency is not a requirement, interns will have the opportunity to speak French with native speakers. 

Responsibilities include:  

  • Writing and translating promotional materials (online articles, newsletters, press releases, and other official documents)  
  • Take note and write reports of professional meetings 
  • Help with the grant applications  
  • Help with all the organization and logistics of the Arts Department events and meetings  

Internship terms: 

Internships are non-paid positions. Candidates are required to commit to 2,5 days a week for 6 months.
