Higher Education Department
The Higher Education Department of the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France based in Washington DC seeks an Intern to assist our team with the promotion of our programs. The Department offers a variety of programs supporting the mobility of American students to France as well as initiatives related to French culture on American campuses and research partnerships. Eligibility
The position is open to a student enrolled full-time in an American college. Please note that we cannot accept candidates who have already obtained their bachelor, high school students, or students who require a visa to work in the United States.
Please note that we cannot offer financial compensation.
Responsibilities
Develop a detailed understanding of our missions and programs
Contribution to the Department’s website and the creation of social media channels, including drafting and editing content
Support the Higher Education officer in drafting a communication strategy for the Department, in connection with the new website
Contribution to the animation of the Centers of Excellence network (dissemination of information, writing of short news articles...)
Help with the design of surveys and communication materials (alumni networks)
Assist with the preparation of the launch of call for applications (Chateaubriand, Bootcamps).
Conduct research on various topics related to Higher Education cooperation (monitoring, reports, briefing notes)
Update contact lists and databases to facilitate communications on our programs
Participate in the planning and implementation of events organized by or in partnership with the Department
Other tasks as needed
Qualifications
Major in French Studies, Communication, International Relations, Educational Affairs, Political Science, or related field of study
Excellent English writing skills – must be native-level
Advanced French language proficiency (Upper level course)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public-speaking skills
IT skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), mastery of major social media platforms, familiarity with Canva and similar sites is a plus
Interest in higher education and French culture
Availability
12 hours per week minimum, 4 to 6 months (negotiable)
Starting date: September 1st 2022 (negotiable)
Internship is based at the Embassy of France in Washington, D.C., 4101 Reservoir Road NW 20007.
