Supporting Artists in the U.S. During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Despite its commitment to positivity and proved importance to the American public, the artistic community is under extreme strain. In the U.S.A. alone, museums are losing approximately $33 million a day as a result of coronavirus, and theater, dance, and music groups have been forced to cancel their performances and tours for the foreseeable future. While the most tangible stress is economic, many artists also feel like they are watching their lifelong goals and creative dreams slip by.

This article is dedicated to helping American artists and arts organizations navigate the support made available to them by public and private organizations, foundations, and councils in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak.

To all the artists, arts organizations, and art lovers based in the United States, please know that the Cultural Services of the French Embassy is here for you. We hope that we can be helpful to the artistic community during this time and wish you and your loved ones continued good health.
