At the Galleries - September 2021

September is shaping up to be a particularly interesting month for New York galleries, after the  art fairs last week, there are many different exhibitions that are organized around artists, gallerists and French curators... In this overview, discover this Fall's events! 

Galerie RX:

For his first solo exhibition, Fresh Air, at the Galerie RX in Chelsea, NY, French plastician artist Fabrice Hyber will present about 20 unseen paintings in dialogue with historical installations from September 2, 2021 - October 23, 2021. 

Salon 94: 

Salon 94, in collaboration with the Cesar foundation and Dayan Rohatyn, presents The César: Sacred Anarchy. Celebrating the centenary of the artist’s birth, this survey exhibition ranges from his Human Imprints, created during the 1960s, to Expansions, produced throughout the 1970s.  His Championnes and Compressions, which he created throughout his life, will also form part of the exhibition. From September 14, 2021 - October 30, 2021 at the Salon 94 Gallery.

Ceysson & Bénétière: 

The French independant art curator Anne Couillaud will curate Hemalie Bhuta’s solo exhibition this fall. Hemalie Bhuta: and the epic did not happen! is on at the Ceysson & Bénétière gallery from September 8, 2021- October 23, 2021.

FIAF gallery:

FIAF and Zürcher Gallery present a solo exhibition of works by French artist Alix Le Méléder. A graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, the oil paintings on linen and paper in this exhibition were produced between 1995 and 1998, when the artist was working in a neo-expressionistic manner. They are on view from September 14– October 8, 2021 at the FIAF Gallery.

The Invisible dog:

The Invisible Dog Art Center and the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) will present Stephen Morrison’s first solo exhibition. Dog Show #1: The Dinner Party features 16 life-sized humanoid dogs that revel, sleep and misbehave at an elegant yet excessive feast, reminiscent of the notorious gatherings that Morrison and his partner have been known to throw. On view from September 4, 2021 - October 10, 2021 at the Invisible Dog Art Center.

Nahmad Contemporary: 

In celebration of the 100th birthday of Georges Mathieu (1921-2012), Perrotin and Nahmad Contemporary, in collaboration with the artist’s estate, mount the first extensive survey of Georges Mathieu’s practice in the United States. September 9,2021 - October 23, 2021 at the Nahmad Contemporary Gallery.

Almine Rech:

Almine Rech New York presents Trois Rivières, a solo exhibition of new works by Alexandre Lenoir, a 28 years-old french painter. This is Lenoir’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery on view from September 8,2021 - 23 Oct, 2021 at the Almine Rech Gallery.

Gagosian:

Gagosian presents From March to May, a never-before-seen body of work by Tatiana Trouvé produced in direct response to the pandemic. A conversation between Trouvé and Laura Hoptman, executive director of the Drawing Center, New York, will take place on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. On view from September 18, 2021 to  October 30, 2021 at the Gagosian 976 Madison Avenue Gallery.

MORE IN ART & DESIGN
