Celebrate Bastille Day Virtually

As social distancing measures continue into the summer, it is certain that Bastille Day festivities will look slightly different this year. But that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate!

United for Bastille Day 2020
From July 10 to 17, the Consulate General of France is hosting United for Bastille Day 2020, a week of celebrations to support the French and Francophile communities of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Bermuda. Events are online and in person and include cooking classes, yoga, beginner French lessons, and more!

Bastille Day Celebrations With the French Embassy
All day on July 14th, the French Embassy in the United States will host an online Bastille Day celebration. Take the French Culture quiz to win French cheese and delicacies, and join online for live music and cultural presentations. At 5PM EST, Ambassador Philippe Étienne will give a live speech!

Book Club With Chantal Thomas on Farewell, My Queen
On July 18 at 2PM EST, join Albertine for a virtual book club with Chantal Thomas, author of Farewell, My Queen. Translated by Moishe Black, the novel explores the revolutionary events of July 1789 from the perspective of Marie Antoinette’s former reader, who is exiled in Vienna. The discussion will be moderated by Deputy Cultural Counselor Hervé Ferrage and Albertine Director Sandrine Butteau.
