Fiston Mwanza Mujila, Readings And Discussions

The Congolese writer, who was awarded the Gold Medal at the 6th Jeux de la Francophonie, will discuss his work over the course of his visit to the Boston area.

The poems, prose works, and plays of Fiston Mwanza Mujila are reactions to the political turbulence that has come in the wake of the independence of the Congo and its effect on day-to-day life. His texts have been published in the original French and in translation in many journals and anthologies in several European countries. His novel Tram 83 was a French Voices 2014 grant recipient.

Fiston Mwanza Mujila will offer a reading and conversation at the African Studies Center at Boston University on Wednesday 09/23. He will then visit the Department of Romance Languages & Literature at Harvard University on Thursday 09/24. He will conclude his tour in Providence on Friday 09/25, at the French-American School of Rhode Island, with a discussion of his work led by Avishek Ganguly, Assistant Professor in the Department of Literary Arts and Studies at the Rhode Island School of Design.He will be accompanied by the translator of this novel Tram 83, Roland Glasser.Exact dates and locations:
