Three-time Grammy Award winner Angélique Kidjo will be performing live at the Hollywood Bowl on June 8, 2019. With thirteen albums to her name and a recent release this April called Celia, be sure to get tickets to see who Time Magazine has called “Africa’s premier diva.”

Angélique Kidjo is an iconic, inspiring, and powerful figure in Africa and across the world. As a performer, her voice and presence on stage are striking. Kidjo is a quadrilingual artist who sings and performs in English, French, Fon, and Yorùba.

Kidjo is best known for her diverse musical influence and innovative music videos. In her newest album, Kido reflects on celebrated Cuban-born salsa singer Celia Cruz.

In discussing Cruz’s influence, Kidjo remarks:

"I felt she [Celia Cruz] was a long lost sister from the other side of the world. Like me, she experienced exile from a dictatorship and she was always proud of her roots, of her African roots. In the same way I wanted to bring back Rock and Roll to Africa with my Talking Heads’ Remain In Light project, I now want to pay homage to this incredible voice and those songs that reunite with their juju and Afrobeat roots."

Both Angélique Kidjo and Celia Cruz were affected by their surroundings and the politics affecting their homes, yet both have managed to create from their experiences. Don’t miss Angélique Kidjo while she stops in California on June 8 as part of her world-wide tour!
