The Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance at the California Institute of Arts (CalArts), well-known for their education of professional artists and visionary creative talent, will host its 2019 Winter Dance show this month.

On Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7 at 8:30 pm at REDCAT, come experience compositions by acclaimed choreographers Wayne McGregor, Danielle Agami, Yvonne Rainer, and Salia Sanou. These choreographers bring international elements to their dances from Burkina Faso, Israel, England, and the United States, and incorporate styles from African dance to minimalism to contemporary to ballet.

Du désir d’horizon by world-renowned, Burkinabé choreographer and dancer Salia Sanou will be one of the featured pieces of this performance. Sanou’s work, which draws from dance workshops he conducted in Burundi and Burkina Faso refugee camps, focuses on a tragic and celebratory interrogation of exile.

On Sunday, December 8, CalArts will be holding a performance at LADP (Los Angeles Dance Project) which will feature a shortened version of the Winter Dance show specifically for children and families. In addition to performance, there will be cake, balloons, and surprises for an afternoon of family fun!

Book your tickets here (REDCAT) and here (LADP) soon to witness this exciting performance!
