CANCELLED: Lyon Opera Ballet: 250th Anniversary of Beethoven

From March 18th - April 2nd, the “versatile and daring” Lyon Opera Ballet will be performing in New York City, Boston, and Santa Barbara, honoring the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth. Movement and musicality interact in distinct ways in Trois Grandes Fugues, a stunning triple bill presenting the work of trailblazing choreographers Maguy Marin, Lucinda Childs, and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. With an inquiry into translation, these women each undertake the musical complexity of Beethoven’s “Grosse Fugue” in three different choreographic imaginings, exquisitely performed by a striking ensemble of dancers.

The Joyce Theater, NY (March 18-22)

Boch Center - Shubert Theater, Boston (March 27-29)

UCSB-Arts&Lectures-The Granada Theater, Santa-Barbara (April 1-2)

One of France’s most well-travelled troupes, Lyon Opera Ballet has revolutionized the classical ballet world with a bold, vast, and diverse repertory. The acclaimed 35-member company is known for its exceptionally ambitious and diverse repertory, showcasing a stunningly broad range of choreographers, from Merce Cunningham to William Forsythe, from Maguy Marin to Rachid Ouramdane.
