Paris Design Week 2020

Exhibition "Mobilier du XXIe siècle" at Les Gobelins - Paris

Don't miss the 10th edition of Paris Design Week which runs from September 3 to 12, 2020, in collaboration for the first time with the salon Maison & Objet. Discover the online digital fair until September 18, 2020!

This year, with (RE)GENERATION as its theme, Paris Design Week gathers more than 250 galleries, design schools and workshops featuring contemporary French and foreign designers. The event also offers a glimpse of many emerging talents through its Paris Design Factory program.

Find our selection of highlights below:

1- Design Awards at Espace des Commines and Joseph Galleries:

The winners of the Rado Star Prize, the Rising Talents Awards, and the Grands Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris will be at the Espace des Commines to present their new creations. The circular economy is a major focus of this year's Paris Design Week. Some things that you can expect to find along this theme include sustainable household appliances from Natacha&Sacha,  vases and pots from the Atelier Super with the ceramist Virginie Willerval and the designer Jean-Baptiste Durand, and marine sediment furniture from the Gwilen studio. The same eagerness to think about design that uses production methods which are more respectful of our planet can also be found at Joseph Gallery, with a show of recycled furniture, staged by the Collective 5.5 with the association Les Canaux.

2- Emerging talents from best design schools

The works of students from European design schools are exhibited at the Espace des Commines and the Joseph Gallery, as well as at Les Gobelins Gallery with the exhibition "Mobilier du XXIe siècle" (Furniture of the 21st Century), at Triode Gallery with a selection of mirrors created by young American designers, and in concept stores such as the Boon_Room presenting a selection of objects and furniture with unique shapes.

3- Challenging innovative materials

Material is an important element of design that has always been a catalyst for innovation and continues to push the design sphere to evolve. Thus, the Paris Design Week is promoting an exhibition featuring objects made of diverse and varied materials. The metal furniture of Roger Fatus, Isabelle Serre, Inga Sempé, and Salomé de Fontainieu, among others, are on display on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. The exhibition "Lumière(s) et Matière(s)" (Light(s) and Material(s)) at the Molin Corvo gallery highlights the work of Gabriele Dal Dosso and Thomas Carlier. At Empreintes, the group show "(Re)naissance" features six craftsmen working with wood, clay, and wicker.
