Rio de Janeiro’s Teatro Municipal is the jewel of the nation’s opera scene but it is on the brink of collapse: the state is bankrupt and can no longer pay the employees’ salaries. The workers resist with all their might and try to save the theatre.

Winner of the Arts Programming category at the 2020 International Emmy Awards and presented for the first time in the US, Vertige De La Chute / Ressaca is a moving documentary about resilience and beauty against economic and political odds. The documentary is available to stream online for free through the end of November on Babel's website.

On November 22nd, we organized a talk with the documentary team, along with Cinema Tropical, the leading presenter of Latin American cinema in the United States and Babel Doc, a French production company that aims to produce ambitious and committed films with strong statements that tell the tale of the world we live in.
