Ideas and Ideals: Thoughts for a Better Tomorrow

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy, with the support of Emory University, presents Ideas and Ideals, a new series of lively conversations exploring how we inhabit our bodies, our identities and the world at large.

Drawing together contemporary French writers, whose work has recently been published in the U.S., along with American cultural figures, the series tackles topics from sexuality and gender to climate change and race, assessing what can be learnt from the current crisis to create and imagine a more vibrant and idealistic future.

In the series’ first cycle of events, Strong Female Voices, taking place in the spring of 2021, French and American thought leaders and writers will explore common ground and dissenting views around the following questions: How should we define power, consent, and submission in 2021? How should we affirm our sexual identity and ponder gender fluidity?

This series, organized by the Cultural Services Book Department is made possible through the support of the Institut Français, Paris.
