TALK IN FRENCH

Join U.S.-based French author and artist Olivier Bodart in conversation with Isabelle David on Zones à risques, his first fiction novel that looks back at the natural disasters that have literally shaped America.

Zones à risques is a suspense novel about Mat, a FEMA analyst, whose responsibility is to go to devastated areas to declare a state of natural disaster... But the question is : does Mat really go to these hazardous areas...? Olivier Bodart, the creator of this fictional character, went to the places where the dramas that inspired this novel took place. In the four corners of the United States, he met witnesses and victims, he observed and immersed himself in these areas.

Olivier Bodart is a French writer and visual artist who has lived in North America since 2012. He explores, through literary and visual arts, the effects of the geographical, climatic and more generally spatial environment on the emotions and behavior of individuals and communities.

Isabelle David is the director of the French American School of Chicago (EFAC), teaches literature courses, and is the author of the literary blog "Sur un livre perchée", which offers some texts, poems and reflections for all those who are passionate about literature and the arts.
