Beau Travail at MoMI See It Big: The Return!

Image: "Beau Travail" by Claire Denis

In 2011, upon MoMI’s grand reopening, the Museum collaborated with the editors of Reverse Shot for the series See It Big! The simple idea: come see some of the grandest movies ever made the way they were meant to be seen—BIG—on the Museum’s newly opened Redstone Theater. Ten years later, following the unprecedented year 2020, it feels more urgent than ever to share the experience of watching movies together in the dark in front of an enormous screen. Thus, with the reopening of the Museum, See It Big: The Return!, is an ongoing series of unassailable classics and modern masterpieces from the world’s great filmmakers—back where they belong.

The French Film Beau Travail by Claire Denis will be screened June 26 - 7pm and July 2 - 3pm at the Redstone Theater.

A group from the Foreign Legion forgotten, abandoned somewhere in the gulf of Djibouti. Remnants of a ghost army which pays war and mends roads. At Marseille, the ex-warrant officer Galoup reminds him of this happy time, of this well orchestrted life, of his men, his dear herd. But eventually what he really lost is his commander. His commander he didn’t want to share with a young legionary.
