Get Some "Fresh Air" at the Galerie RX

Fabrice Hyber © Carole Bellaiche

For his first solo exhibition, "Fresh Air," at the Galerie RX in Chelsea, NY, French plastician artist Fabrice Hyber will present about 20 unseen paintings in dialogue with historical installations from September 2, 2021 - October 23, 2021. In addition to these new paintings, the artist will be present live, through a screen, from his studio in France during the show. The artist used the same principle of presentation at the Venice Biennale in 1997, where he received the Golden Lion, and in Tokyo, at the Wacoal Art Center with Spiral TV which broadcasted a daily program live.

In "Fresh Air," Fabrice Hyber starts from an observation: "People are anxious about the virus, about war, about pollution, about nature... We try to protect ourselves from everything, and I told myself that it was perhaps the moment to give solutions and ask the right questions." Halfway between science and art, the artist will bring answers to transform these sources of anxiety into enchantment. These diferent works, from the Ted Hyber, the image of a plastic teddy bear that he presented in New York in 1998,  to the series  "Fish and Fresh Air," where the artist transforms the ocean, allow us to enter the artist's mind as they are all linked together and make up part of a more global system.

About Fabrice Hyber:

Recognized as one of the major figures of French contemporary art, Fabrice Hyber (born in 1961 in Luçon, Vendée) has built up an important body of work important body of work with impressive formal and conceptual ramifications. His way of doing things with variable geometry is enriched each time by a dialogue with multiple disciplines (from physics to neuroscience, from astronomy to phytotherapy) to send the spectator/actor back to a larger site where all the dimensions of the human experience are gathered. Mixing drawings, paintings, video and installations, Hyber multiplies the possibilities of intervention on the form, the behaviors, the organizations.

About the Galerie RX in New York:

Well established in Paris since 2002, RX Gallery opened in New York, in partnership with SLAG Gallery, in 2021. The nearly 300 m2 space is located in Chelsea's heart on 19th street, opposite David Zwirner Gallery and Timothy Taylor Gallery. This project was born from the meeting with the American gallery owner Irina Protopopescy - SLAG Gallery - who opened her first space in the same area in 2008.

Galerie RX is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10AM-1PM, 2-6PM.
