Lyon Opera Ballet/Christian Rizzo | NI FLEURS, NI FORD —MUSTANG at BAM

The Lyon Opera Ballet returns to BAM to present an evening-length piece by French choreographer Christian Rizzo with his collaborators, the composer Gerome Nox and the lighting designer Caty Olive. A highly conceptual, chimerical performance work, NI FLEURS, NI FORD—MUSTANG unfolds like a dusky dream. Fancifully dressed dancers wander or lie scattered, conjuring mysterious beasts or slowly morphing sculptures. As the deliberate pace accelerates, the turbid light clears, building to an astonishing, ravishing finale.

With a bold and vast repertory of work by emerging and established choreographers, the Lyon Opera Ballet is a leading force in contemporary dance and France's most well-traveled ballet troupe. www.opera-lyon.com

Christian Rizzo studied fine arts at the Villa Arson in Nice, where he began to branch out into dance. During the 1990s, he performed with a number of contemporary choreographers, and often created soundtracks and costumes for them. In 1996, he founded l'association fragile and began presenting events, dances, solos and group pieces, and also commissioned work in fashion and the visual arts. Since then, he has produced over thirty projects, not counting his pedagogical activities. Christian Rizzo teaches on a regular basis in art schools and dance schools in France and abroad. www.lassociationfragile.com
