PEN Presents X Artists' Books

X Artists' Books co-founders Alexandra Grant and Keanu Reeves, along with playwright and artist Sylvan Oswald, will be doing a stage reading and host a conversation on February 27 at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever. The event is put on by PEN, an organization whose aim is to promote literary culture and the written word. Grant and Reeves will read from Grant’s The Artists’ Prison with drawings by artist and poet Eve Wood. Oswald will read from his adults’ picture book High Winds with images by Jessica Fleischmann.

X Artists’ Books is a small publisher of artist-centered books that span a variety of genres. Co-founder Alexandra Grant is French, now based in Los Angeles. Grant is a text-based artist who uses language and networks of words as the basis for her work in painting, drawing and sculpture. She has been featured at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), the Contemporary Museum (Baltimore), and galleries in the US and abroad. Her background in art and fascination with language and text create an intriuging perspective on literature for events such as this stage reading.
