The Newport Beach Film Festival will celebrate its 19th edition from April 26 - May 3, 2018 in Southern California. An international slate of over 400 films, includes international spotlights, narratives, documentaries, shorts, and student films.
This year's French spotlight film is Custody (Jusqu'à la garde) playing on May 1 at Starlight Triangle Square Cinemas.
Custody is about an adolescent boy who is at the center of his parents’ custody battle. He struggles coping with his parents’ divorce, witnesses abuse, and the problems that arises that happen in adulthood.
Also screening at Newport Beach Film Festival is French documentary feature film L'architecte textile.
When a designer decides to create one final suit in L'architecte textile, the result is hundreds of hours and thousands of stitches worth of work. From conception to final product, none can say the creation of clothes is an easy task, but thousands of people around the world still take up this art daily. This documentary gives insight into the world of fabric and thread as a designer shares their creative process; along with the highs, lows, and backfires that occur within any industry.
