Oui Design has been developed by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and its partner foundation FACE, in order to foster creative exchange in design between France and the U.S. Launched in 2016, it is the first program initiated by the French Embassy to support fruitful and durable partnerships between design professionals on both sides of the Atlantic.
Through a diverse program comprised of exhibitions, workshops and talks during NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s official city-wide celebration of design (May 11-23, 2018), Oui Design features collaborative projects exploring new modes of production at the intersection of design, art, and crafts.
Don't miss "Akari Unfolded: A Collection by YMER&MALTA", currently on display at the Noguchi Museum. The exhibition presents a selection of 26 lamps created by the leading French design studio in collaboration with 6 designers.
At WantedDesign, a key partner of Oui Design since the launch of the program, we are proud to support 4 innovative projects:
■ François Azambourg will revisit his iconic Douglas vase, in collaboration with the French glass research center CIAV, designer Leo Tecosky, and the Brooklyn Glass;
■ Camille Walala will create a permanent monolithic mural for a building facade at Industry City;
■ "COULEUR" will feature three emerging French designers and the crucial role of color in their works: Pernelle Poyet, Julie Richoz, and Ionna Vautrin;
■ As part of the Conscious Design exhibition: Daily Connection will showcase the works of ten EnSAD students using bamboo as an eco-friendly material of the future.
In addition to these exhibitions, The Design Schools Workshop will provide students from international design schools with an open platform for collaboration and demonstration.
In conjunction with NYCxDesign, MoMA Design Store will collaborate with La French Tech to select and present over twenty of the country’s most innovative new technology products.
At ICFF 2018, the exhibition “NO TASTE FOR BAD TASTE” organized by VIA will bring together forty iconic French masterpieces of the 21st century.
