Les Grands Esprits: Movie Night at Alliance Française d'Atlanta Midtown

© Michael Crotto

When François Foucault, a veteran literature professor at Paris’ prestigious Lycée Henri-IV, is transferred to teach is an underperforming school in the suburbs, he is forced to confront his own limits and question his bourgeois values and assumptions. He quickly learns that he must adapt his teaching methods to his new students, rather than expecting them to accommodate him. Through the relationship between Foucault and his student Seydou, director Olivier Ayache-Vidal presents a feel-good film that nevertheless seeks to incite a debate on the fault lines of the French educational system.

The screening at the Alliance Française d'Atlanta-Midtown is free for members and $10 for non-members.
