Entre Nous

Coup de foudre by Diane Kurys

France – 110 min

As part of the film series "Les Femmes Essentielles," the Cultural Services of the French Embassy present a screening of the film Entre Nous (Coup de Foudre).

In Entre Nous, a decade after escaping occupied France, housewife Lena (Huppert) becomes enamored of free spirited Madeleine (Miou-Miou) even as Madeleine is faced with her own challenges. This film is fascinating for the detailed way the director, Diane Kurys, sees her characters. Entre Nous was Oscar-nominated for the Best Foreign-Language Picture.

"Entre Nous is not a movie-as-short story. It's a novel-sized film, the kind that is so perfectly realized in vivid incidents that, not until the end does one realize how big it is and how effortlessly it has covered so much social and psychological territory."
— Vincent Canby, The New York Times
