Love of Life is a creative project by the French cello-virtuoso Vincent Courtois along with two tenor saxophonists: Daniel Erdmann and Robin Fincker. Inspired by the works of Jack London such as Martin Eden, Sea Wolf, Build a Fire and Goliath, the trio has created a piece for each novel.
The trio will kick-off the tour in Boston at the New Directions Cello Festival on June 22, followed by New York at Barbès Brooklyn on June 23. They will then travel to Portland on June 28, where they will perform at the Jack London Revue, and to Seattle on June 29 at the Earshot Jazz.
Vincent Courtois’ classical training endowed him with technique, precision, and instrumental control. His curiosity and eclecticism led him to play with brilliant musicians from different backgrounds: Rita Mitsouko, Christian Escoudé, Michel Petrucciani, Michel Portal and Joëlle Léandre to name a few. Strengthened by his many experiences and influences, Vincent Courtois has developed a unique musical exploration.
This project is supported by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S.
