Cultural Entrepreneurship: Get involved in the Creative Lab!

The U.S. and Canada represent essential places for cultural and creative industries, but it's necessary to understand their codes and practices to expand. As France encourages the development of a "French Tech" community and innovation in the cultural sector, Business France, the Consulate General of France in Quebec and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S. join forces to accompagny creative French startups as part of the Créative Lab North America.

This acceleration program is designed to help French entrepreneurs from the cultural and creative industries through training sessions, workshops, networking events, and personalized business meetings. The call for applications for the 2021 edition is now open for French startups. Any American professionals are welcomed to join the movement and support cultural entrepreneurship.

In the past 6 years, the Créative Lab has provided support to more than 60 companies. They were able to:

  • Follow training sessions & workshops including pitch preparation and methods of expansion in North America
  • Meet guest speakers in marketing and business development. They also met Sree Srenivassan (CDO of New York City and former manager of the Met Museum Digital Lab), Xavier Hansen (Verizon envrnmt) and Alban Denoyel (Sketchfab).
  • Experience personalized trainings and individualized rendez-vous to meet with institutions, large companies and professional adviser.
  • Visit centers of innovation such as The Hub at Montreal, Google, the RLAB - a center for entrepreneurship in VR and AR -...
  • Participate in networking events with museums (Guggenheim, Met, Brooklyn Museum, Musée des Arts de Montréal, etc.) and communities (French Founders, GA Assembly etc.)

"Le Créative Lab North America went beyond my expectations, the team was amazing and we had a very great workshop, speakers and events." said Soraya Jaber from Minsar. "It was full of meetings and opportunities for Minsar and we were able to validate our go to market strategy for the US market!"

Up to now, the Créative Lab was only concentrated on New York and Montreal ecosystems. Since 2020, the Créative Lab adapted and went online. It's now open to key tech hubs such as Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, Washington, Houston and Los Angeles. Business France and the Cultural Services of French Embassy are established in these cities and have a precise overview of their ecosystems. This will help to improve connections and relationship between professionals.
