French Cinema Oscar® Wins at the 2021 Academy Awards!

The Academy Awards® took place on Sunday, April 25th, 2021 in Los Angeles, celebrating cinema with the hope of returning soon to see films in theaters! Several French projects and professionals are among the winners.

Florian Zeller’s The Father was awarded two Oscars: Best Actor for Anthony Hopkins, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Florian Zeller and Christopher Hampton.

Short documentary film Colette, about former French Resistance member Colette Marin-Catherine, directed by Anthony Giacchino and produced by the French producer Alice Doyard, won the Best Documentary Oscar for a Short Subject.

French sound designer Nicolas Becker, won the Best Sound award for the film The Sound of Metal (along with his colleagues Jaime Baksht, Michelle Couttolenc, Carlos Cortés, and Phillip Bladh).
