Games for Good is a program initiated by the Cultural Services of the French Embassies in the United States and in Canada to address training, innovation and inclusion challenges in the video game industry.
The program aims to create a task force between France & North America to build a better gaming industry and to strengthen cooperation with North America in a trans-disciplinary approach linking culture, technology, and economy.
Games for Good supports projects that aim to address one or several major challenges identified in the video game industry:
– The training of tomorrow’s professionals and the recruitment of new talents.
– Technological and social innovation.
– Inclusion and diversity.
From workshops and talks to a training program, all projects share a common approach:
– The encounter of NGOs, top gaming companies, training and public organizations.
– The promotion of cooperation projects between the United States, Canada and France.
– The pursuit of a significant impact within the industry on a social, economic, cultural, or scientific level.
As part of Games for Good, the Cross-Cultural Impact Jam (March 20 - 28, 2021) brought together 70 students from 18 universities from Canada, the United States, Senegal, and France to collaborate in creating games and immersive experiences around the theme of inclusivity. This jam was presented in collaboration with Unity Technologies and Games for Change.
