FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance

FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance fosters dialogue, strengthens professional relationships, and sparks creative artistry through cultural exchanges by introducing choreographers and performers whose works had never or rarely been seen in the partner country.

FUSED operates with public funding from Institut français - Paris and the French Ministry of Culture, and private funding from The Florence Gould Foundation, The Ford Foundation, and the Chanel Fund for Women in the Arts & Culture, and supports productions, presentations and tours by these artists and companies.

Created in 2004 first as a partnership with NEFA-National Dance Project, FUSED has allowed artists funded by the program to achieve international recognition as a result of their time spent in either America or France. It has helped build numerous partnerships between French and American presenters enabling innovative collaborations. These were also instrumental in reaching new audiences in both countries.

Since 2018, FUSED has been operated by FACE Foundation in partnership with The Cultural Services of the French Embassy. It continues its mission and has expanded to include projects by artists from Africa, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, performing in the United States, as long as their work is co-produced by French cultural institutions. In this age of global mobility, the goal is to support artists with varied backgrounds and influences, in order to promote a multiplicity of voices and foster a more rich intercultural dialogue. Eligible projects include productions, residencies, and the presentation and touring of French artists in the United States as well as American artists in France.
