Discover French Rappers on Netflix!

From left to right: the duo PNL and Nekfeu

Experience the best of French rap on Netflix with the broadcast of PNL's concert: Dans la légende tour and the music documentary Nekfeu: Les Étoiles Vagabondes (Wandering Stars).

PNL : Dans la légende tour

PNL's tour was cancelled because of COVID-19 but that did not stop the two internationally acclaimed brothers from surprising their fans. On July 5, 2020, Netflix released PNL's concert recorded at the AccordHotels Arena in 2017 on its platform. This recording is an exciting opportunity to discover or rediscover tracks such as "Naha", "Bené", "Onizuka" or "Da". In a festive atmosphere - bathed in beams of light and full of unforgettable moments, such as when the crowd sings the words of "Jusqu’au dernier gramme" - PNL once again takes us into their unique world of "cloud rap".

About PNL

The duo from Les Tarterêts (Essonne, France), known as PNL (P for "peace", N for "and" and L for "lové" which means money in slang), has been revolutionizing the world of French rap since 2015. With auto-tuned voices and encrypted lyrics (in slang, "verlan", Arabic and acronyms), PNL first started to create a buzz with "Je vis, je visser" and then took the spotlight with their certified double-platinum album, Le Monde Chico. A year later, the album Dans la légende, accompanied by sensational 7 to 20-minute clips, went diamond. For a while, PNL then kept a low profile, publishing only "À l'ammoniaque" on Youtube. The duo came back in 2019 with the video clip "Au DD", shot at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Unsurprisingly this led PNL to win the "Victoires de la Musique 2020" with the prize for the best audiovisual production. This track is part of their latest platinum album Deux frères, which was supposed to be promoted during their 2020 tour. In addition to the musical phenomenon, PNL's communication strategy also ensures thier success. No interviews, rare stage appearances, the duo uses discretion and surprise to provoke euphoria among fans. Maybe Deux frères was their last album or maybe it was just another success boosting their musical career, who knows?

Nekfeu : Les Étoiles Vagabondes (Wandering Stars)

Also available on Netflix, the music documentary on French rapper Nekfeu is both intimate and poetic. Seeking inspiration for his third album, Nekfeu takes us through his doubts, fears, and desires. The artist explains how the succession of tours and the interruption of his personal life affect what he creates. The documentary reveals, in chapters, Nekfeu's return to his roots: starting in Greece where his grandmother lives, the audience follows the Parisian rapper to Japan, Belgium, and New Orleans.

« Sometimes you have to run away from the frenzy of the big cities to realize how much we get used to that daily madness », Nekfeu

Surrounded by his team and artists such as Troy Andrews, Nekfeu composes, deconstructs, and adjusts Les Étoiles Vagabondes by addressing poignant subjects such as immigration, uncertainty, and the place of humankind in the world. After Les Étoiles Vagabondes was the third most viewed documentary of the year 2019 on Netflix, Nekfeu sold over 450,000 copies of his new album in just three weeks.

About Nekfeu

Similarly to the duo PNL, Nekfeu has played a central role in the history of French rap for the past 5 years. After being a member of the 1995, S-Crew and l'Entourage groups, Nekfeu signed his own album Feu in 2015. This solo album reveals the musical identity of the artist who seeks to express individual questions and universal emotions. With each album, Nekfeu improves his art and perfects his « multisyllabic » technique. After Cyborg in 2016 and Les Étoiles Vagabondes: Expansion in 2019, introspective reflections become a signature, and the influence of genres such as jazz, grime, and rebetiko allow Nekfeu to leave his own imprint on French rap. After three albums and three diamond records, the rapper deleted his Twitter and Instagram accounts in order to implement a new communication strategy… Stay tuned!
