Victoires de la Musique Classique 2021: The Winners!

Les Victoires de la Musique Classique is an annual French awards ceremony celebrating outstanding achievement in the classical music industry. 

The 28th Victoires de la Musique Classique took place at the Auditorium of Lyon on February 24, 2021. The ceremony was broadcast on France Musique radio and the French TV channel France 3. 

Here is a list of this year's winners: 

Instrumental soloist: Aurélien Gignoux (percussion)

Lyrical artist: Julie Fuchs (soprano)

Eye-opener, instrumental soloist: Alexandre Tharaud (piano)

Eye-opener, lyrical artist: Marie-Laure Garnier (soprano)

Composer: Betsy Jolas for « Topeng, for string quartet »

Recording: « Beethoven, Around the World » by Quatuor Ebène, published by Erato, Warner Classic Music. 

For the first time, the Honor prize of the Victoires awarded "musicians and the future," and symbolically went to two students from the music school Conservatoire de Lyon. 

The French-American composer Betsy Jolas is a FACE Jazz & New Music 2019 Grantee with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

The 2019 USA tour for the project "Beethoven Around The World" was supported by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States.
