Puppeteer Basil Twist In France

The 8th edition of the International Biennial of Puppetry Art will take place from May 5 to 30 in Paris, France. The biennial presents various works for children and adults. Performance will take place both inside and outside.

This edition will highlight New York-based puppeteer Basil Twist. From May 14 through 28, thanks to the FACE Contemporary Theater Fund, he will present Dogugaeshi at theater Le Mouffetard. This work is a hypnotic ballet with "dancing panels" and elegant special effects with light and colour. This work also comes as a tribute to the tradition of dogugaeshi: a japanese technique employed in puppet theatre in which a series of sliding screens which provide the background for a scene are changed out.
